The Bishop’s Company Fund provides a pool of discretionary funds for the bishops to come to the aid of clergy and their families with emergency needs and, from time to time, to provide funds for programs that strengthen the life of the Diocese. Examples of how these funds are used include:
- bursaries for religious scholarships
- counseling for clergy and family members
- inter-diocesan travel for clergy
- emergency building repairs
- funeral expenses
Bursaries & Scholarships
George & Eileen Carey Bursary
The George & Eileen Carey Bursary was established in 2002 on the occasion of their visit to Toronto to recognize their contribution to the life of the Anglican Church. This bursary is awarded to Anglicans pursuing post-graduate theological studies.
Terence & Alice Jean Finlay Award
The Terence & Alice Jean Finlay Bursary was presented for the first time in 2005 to honour the retirement of Archbishop Terence Finlay. The bursary is given to two students, one each from Trinity and Wycliffe Colleges, who are engaged in studies that celebrate and enhance our understanding of the diversity of our Church.
The Kirubai Scholarship
The Kirubai Scholarship is awarded to a Trinity College divinity student with an area of specialization in liturgy and worship.
W.R. Kay Memorial Fund
The William Kay Bursary is awarded in memory and recognition of the dedication of Bill Kay, a long-time member of St. John, York Mills and one of the founders of the Bishop’s Company. The bursary aids students who are engaged in theological education that will lead to ordination.
